Perfect Holiday

My first visit to Corfu and the RomanzaHotel. What a find.If you like a small hotel, friendly staff, peace and quiet and a relaxing resort
then head here.
The Hotel has fantastic sea views from all rooms, the pool and bar,all the rooms are are fairly basic, ours was cleaned daily by a cheerful maid.
We found the beds were very hard and after a couple of nights ached allover, however after speaking to reception a additional foam mattress was supplied for the beds without any fuss.In San Stefanos the restaurants are all reasonably priced and the evening meals at the Romanza compare very well especially if you plump for the special 10.50 euro for 3 coursesof good quality food.If you like eggs you will really enjoy the breakfast, this was the one down side, breakfast consisted of 2 cereals, croissants, toast, scrambled, fried or boiled egg this never varied although you could purchase an English breakfast, but if you want an full english head for Condor unbelievable value for 4 euro.Other good restaurants Two Star,Zorbas and Little Prince the latter has a brilliant cheese cake, one to avoid Elpitha dreadful meal useless waiter dont go there.Worth hiring a car Romanza recommended San Stefanos
car hire 3 days 100 euro bargain,be careful as roads are not good, and you will meet coaches normally on a hill going round a
bend on your side.Mount Pantokrator is worth a drive and the last bit to the top is amazing.
If you like walking you will love the hill from the town, yes you do get fitter over two weeks because the nearest shop is at the bottom and carrying 5 litres of water in 34 degrees is tough,if you hire a car stock up with water, beer and wine for the duration of the holiday,if you go to the beach the path up is pretty steep as well and is impossible after heavy rain, also try the walk to Arillas
again fairly steep but worth it for the views. If you take travellers chqs take them in pounds not euros I found the hotel rate better than Lloyds bank, you also lose out if you have some left when you change them back.
Would certainly go back, hopefully the resort will not develop to much although good reviews may be bad news in the end for people who like San Stefanos the way it is now.
